The Happy Prince

Helen Ruth is delighted to announce the creation of a new scarf! This one is pretty special too :-). Inspired by the classic children's story of 'The Happy Prince' by Oscar Wilde, it is a delicate scarf printed onto a light silk chiffon with appliqued Chantilly lace panels. For those who are not familiar with the story, I would give you a synopsis but I don't think my literary skills would do it justice so here is a link -  it is a pretty tragic one so have the tissues ready!!

The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde

Soo.. after reading that here is my depiction of the story...

And there are only going to be 15 of these ever made...Ever!!

let me tell you a tale...

I thought I would tell you a bit about the inspiration for each individual scarf in the new collection. Let's start with 'Strawberry Vines'...
This scarf started life as a scribble in my sketchbook - thinking about the birds darting in and out of the holly bush outside the window happily twittering to each other and picking at the seeds and berries. I wanted to capture the lively scene on a scarf for everyone else to see! I was also thinking about the William Morris print 'Strawberry Thief' which I love...

(William Morris's print was inspired by attempts to grow strawberries in his garden but the birds kept creeping under the net and pinching them)
This design comes in two colourways - a cool emerald green show at the top, and this warmer palette of cream and ginger. Which one would you go for?

Printed on 100% silk, 100x100cm, printed and hand finished in Scotland

New Spring Summer Garden Collection is finally here!

Wind and the Willows

Wolf and Badger have today launched their new Spring/Summer range and I'm feeling very excited to see the exclusive 'Willow' scarf featured on the home page. Looking very pretty alongside other quirky finds such as a gold seahorse necklace by Catherine Zoraida, (which I particularly love!). This scarf has been designed exclusively for Wolf and Badger online and features hummingbirds amongst a burst of summer garden flowers on a delicate ivy lace background.. Look for the hidden wasps amongst the blooms! ...

This scarf come is a choice of either purple or a lovely spring shade of sage.

Colourful scarves on a rainy day

The weather may be dull and dreary ( this is pretty normal in Aberdeen) but there is no need for your outfit to be. I love all the vibrant floral prints that are gracing the catwalks this Spring, and allthough you may not be in full garden party mode just yet, you can keep cosy and colourful with our Spring Fair scarf. This digitally printed scarf features whimsical characters from the world of Helen Ruth, including our favourite chello playing canary, who was discovered in an Antiques market in Paris (of course!). This vibrant scarf will certainly brighten up a rainy day.

Or if you are in to all things pink then check out our 'Egg lady and Friends' silk scarf.  This scarf was inspired by a trip to a Toy Museum a few years ago, and all the long lost toys and dolls that were on display. A little bit melancholy but here these old toys get a new lease of life in vibrant oranges, pinks and yellows. I particularly liked the painted egg lady with her big beautiful eyes and bright, shiny egg cup, so thought she deserved a starring role. Oh and both these designs also come in handkerchief form for the gentlemen!
